Doing MLM in Tough Times. I am putting this together for people within the Ghana Market and anyone in any economy that is experiencing some turbulence. The picture above is one of my most cherished pictures when I had to dare into an area reserved for only a few brave and bold people.
We must tell ourselves the truth and realistic, a lot is happening to the Ghanaian economy that is making buying and selling of any commodity a tough one. With time, we all get off our feet and sometimes even loose out balance. One does not need a consultant to know that times are getting harder and harder with the rate at which price increment of basic and necessary services like lorry fares are happening.
There have been instances where people have engaged each other in fisty cuffs as a result.
Driver mates of commercial vehicles and commuters have fought with rumors of an instance in which one person is supposed to have lost his life.
All these are occurring because of the larger picture of the economic situation we find ourselves in as a people.
As Network Marketing Professionals, we dare not give up! We dare not join the wagon of complainants! We dare not speak negative to the situation.
Reality is however that, Reality will stare at us in the face!
People are getting increasingly confused as sales drop, consumers are getting overwhelmed by the day.
Responsible ones like parents find it more and more difficult to keep with the pace of increasing expenditure.
What do we do in a time like this?

MY COUNSEL IS THIS
One major thing to remember is this, your RESPONSE to this current wave is very important.
You need to stay on top of the waters, you must hang in there, you MUST keep yourself afloat at all cost in positive mood!
It doesn’t matter how topsy-turvy things get. Your response to every inevitable event of life is what will determine whether you triumph or succumb. It is that which will determine whether you will be found standing with the tough ones after this era is passed.
Will you be gone with the wind, or you will be found standing after the dust settles?
As a TIENS Member, these are a few things I believe you can do.
First make sure you keep an attitude of appreciation.
You see, it is very easy to lose it in a time like this and not appreciate the little, little efforts of others’ contribution towards your development in a time like this. Make sure you maintain that attitude of gratitude all the time, don’t lose it.
Take care of yourself, don’t bow to the pressure
It is very easy to show signs of depression in a time like this. It is very easy to leave your hair unkept, it is very easy to go out with your teeth unbrushed, it is very easy to not eat well, and it is very easy to not find time to rest. Worse of all it is very easy to not appreciate the little laughs of jokes around you.
Take very good care of yourself because this one too shall pass, keep feeding your body healthy, it is the only body your maker gave you and you have no other. Whenever you have the opportunity, take a nap. When fun is happening around you, don’t be like a stoic! Live in the era, one day at time and have a good laugh when the time comes, this too shall pass, and you will need your body in good health and shape.
Don’t abandon friends and comrade that upgrades your image and worth
There are many friends around you who make you smile, don’t give them a straight face.
When they share a joke with you, smile back. It makes the world a better place for us all.
When you are called to share at meetings, please do, the world is not coming to an end because times are hard, this too shall pass.
Speak up, they say “A problem shared is half solved”
Whenever you have to speak about an issue, don’t bottle it up, it is a killer!
When someone has convinced you enough to give them products and they have not paid, talk to someone. When you have gone out to prospecting and no one gave you a face, speak to someone.
When you have gone for an even, well organized yet you made no sales, speak to someone and find the fun side of it to laugh at, better times are ahead.
I keep telling people, when you hit the bottom of a well, there is no sinking anymore, you can only rise up again! Dead or alive, you must be out of the well!
Engage your MENTOR, COUNSELOR or LEADER!
In my latest lesson for TIENS, University without walls, I am developing a short lesson on the role of Mentors, Leaders and Role Models in TIENS!
You see, many people have done this business before you, and probably before you were born, depending on your age. And so there are many people who have excelled and seen business in such a time as we are currently experiencing.
These people are the ones we look up to, that is why we all need Mentors, Leaders and Role Models.
These three are a MUST HAVE in the TIENS business.
This is the time to talk to them, as of the time of putting this together, I have engaged my mentor and leader in a tight rope discussion over certain issues bothering me. That is how it has to be! Don’t be silent and die, speak up and live, Better TIENS Better Life!
Encourage your team, this shall surely pass
This is the time to speak to your team!
Let them know that you acknowledge the difficulty of the era
But let them know you also believe in their ability to perform.
Move with them, and don’t leave them behind.
In difficult times, together is even more necessary. Unity is even more needed! It is possible to be Doing MLM in Tough Times even in difficult economic situation.
When possible, take a break, the world isn’t ending
This is the last counsel I will share with you. Whenever it is possible, take that break.
Just as passengers on board a long journey are given the chance to get off the bus and stretch
Just as passengers on board a long flight are given the opportunity of a transit, sometimes give yourself that break.
Speak to your leader and take that one single day off, sleep, watch a movie, visit a friend, do something outside business and come back refreshed!
There is already a lot of tension in the system. DO NOT CHANGE for worse.
Maintain your integrity and keep being HONEST all the time even when Doing MLM in Tough Times
This too shall pass
